Full Description
Watching brief undertaken in February 2002 at Pre-Prep Junior King's School. A pit was uncovered containing seventy-six live 40mm anti-aircraft shells of World War II date. Most were held in a shiny brass clip in groups of five and some were lying loose. It is not known why they were buried here but during WWII soldiers were quartered in the Milner Barn (just to the north-east) and the munitions may be related to their occupation. (1)
