Findspot record TR 15 NE 416 - Jutish or Saxon Pottery Sherds Found Near Diocesan House, 26 Broad Street, Canterbury

Summary

Two excavations carried out in 1992 at 'Diocesan House,' 26 Broad St, Canterbury for deep new foundations for office block extension. The Romano-British inhumation burials (TR 15 NE 414) were covered by a dark earth layer of soil c. 0.6m deep. Within this soil was an assemblage of decorated pottery. Included in this assemblage were eight large body sherds from a boss-decorated jar and four from a vessel of sandy fabric. Both date to the late 5th-early 6th centuries.
