Full Description

Large pit uncovered in northern trench. Only 0.15m were exposed. Backfilled with grey-brown, silty-clay, within which was deposited a number of lenses of oyster shell pieces. From the blue-grey, clayey, silt deposit it cuts it appears to indicate a probable occupation area at a time corresponding to an early stage in the deposit formation. The deposit is blue-grey and may represent flooding on the waterfront of the Early Medieval town.(1)
