Monument record TR 24 NW 96 - Late Iron Age/Early Roman Site, Broome Park

Summary

During evaluation trenching the base of a refuse pit was uncovered containing pottery of around 0-50 AD and metalwork. The material recovered from the pit suggested that they were debris from a disused structure, probably a building likely in the area now occupied by Broome House. The focus, form and extent of the occupation of this settlement is not known, but pottery recovered as residual finds in the nearby trenches suggest activity extending into the early Romano-British period through to the early 2nd century AD.
