Full Description
Two groups of parallel ditches c.2.50m apart and possibly relating to a narrow ditched trackway running roughly northeast - southwest. The ditches had been infilled with black ashy soil and domestic rubbish, containing Roman pottery, animal bone and marine shell. There were also a number of prehistoric struck flints.(1)
Description from record TR 35 NW 254:
A series of inter-cutting pits of varying shapes, sizes and depths. The deepest pit was cut 0.62m into the clay. The complex was filled with a series of clay deposits and it would seem that the entire complex wilted up gradually. Small amounts of domestic rubbish, in the form of pottery, chaff-tempered ware, burnt daub and animal bone also became incorporated into the filling. The dating of the pottery would suggest that the infilling occurred sometime during the second century AD.(1)
