Monument record TR 37 SE 345 - Medieval midden pit, Cliftonville, Margate
Summary
A pit was found during excavations at Northdown Primary School. Removed from the fill of this feature were a number of pottery sherds from a large cooking pot in sandy "Tyler Hill" fabric and probably dated to around 1325 -1375 AD. The pit appeared to have served as a midden. Evidence of a Late Bronze Age and mid-Iron Age settlement were previously found at the site (see TR 37 SE 43).
