Full Description

In 1993 a watching brief was undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust on the fields to the east of Canterbury Hill and St Stephens Hill, Tyler Hill. A large deep clay lined pit was found containing peg tiles, glazed and unglazed, ridge-tiles and lumps of kiln wall. Dates to c.1300 and similar style kilns were found across the road at Darwin College (TR 15 NW 610). (1)
