Building record TQ 63 NE 33 - Site of a Hop-pickers hut, near The Ruffets, Lamberhurst
Summary
A Hop-pickers hut built during the 1930s or 1940s. The hut was surveyed during a programme of archaeological work in advance of work on the A21 Lamberhurst bypass in 2002. It was formed of three rooms and made of breeze blocks and a corrugated asbestos roof. Within the rooms were the remains of beds or benches, as well as shelfing, electric lighting and wallpaper.
