Full Description
A buildings survey was carried out by the Babtie Group on a hop-pickers hut as part of archaeological works preparatory to the A21 Lamberhurst bypass in 2002. The Hop-pickers hut (Hut 2) was built after the late 1930s or 1940s. Construction was of breeze blocks with a corrugated asbestos roof. There were three rooms in a series, each of dimensions 3.05m x 2.43m. The remains of beds or benches could be seen as could brackets for a shelf. The structure had a concrete floor. Room 3 had electric lighting and wallpaper could also be seen.(1)
