Monument record TQ 97 SW 73 - Early-Medieval Fire Pit, Minster-in-Sheppey

Summary

During a watching brief on a new housing development, an oval steep-sided pit was recorded, which contained one fragment of pottery dated to the 8th century. Evidence of fairly intense burning in the pit suggested the feature was possibly used for small-scale iron working.
