Full Description
During a watching brief on a new housing development, an oval shaped, steep-sided pit was recorded, showing signs of intense burning, with chracoal flecks and frequent small nodules of iron slag. It also contained one fragment of pottery dated to the 8th century (although it is possible that this sherd is residual). The feature was probably associated with small-scale iron working [1].
