Summary

Various fragments of post medieval wall were recorded during a watching brief at the east end of Minor Canon Row. Along the course of Boley Hill and St. Margaret's Street post medieval (?) flint cobble and gravel surfaces were observed.

Full Description

A watching brief during the excavation of cable trenches along Boley Hill, St. Margaret's Street, College Yard and the Precinct, Rochester, recorded various fragments of post medieval wall at the east end of Minor Canon Row (574264,168436). Along the course of Boley Hill and St. Margaret's Street post medieval (?) flint cobble and gravel surfaces were observed (at 574217,168537 and 574170,168452). Medieval fragments of wall were also recorded along Minor Canon Row and at the junction of the Precinct and College Yard (TQ 76 NW 308).
The post medieval wall fragments included part of a brick arch or culvert [1].
