Full Description

In the grounds of the former Rank Hovis flour mill, Margate Rd, Ramsgate are the foundations of a former ice house. The ice house is visible on the 1st edition OS map (1862-65). The foundations were observed during a desk-based assessment and walkover survey carried out in 2007.(1) An archaelogical evaluation was carried out on the land in the area in 2015. A construction trench was encountered with brickwork believed to be associated with the ice house. (2)

The Ice House appears to be in the grounds of the former Ramsgate Town Railway Yard complex. (3)
