Full Description

Seven, relatively large, pits filled by charcoal rich deposits showing evidence of in-situ burning. They were in an exposed, fairly level area on the roadside at 180m OD. No cultural material present in any of them. Their prescence along a route joining the Pilgrim's way may point to them having been sunken campfires made by travellers following that route. (1)
