Following the demolition of the former Sticky Fingers nursery, in June 2007 three trial trenches were excavated on the site. Two Roman inhumations were located. (1)

A subsequent excavation found three further inhumations. All were accompanied by pottery vessels and most had traces of possible coffins. A copper alloy bracelet or bangle was found on the left wrist of one burial which also had hobnails indicating the body had been buried wearing shoes. A pit was the only other feature found; it contained a copper alloy pin and two iron nails. Given the condition of the adult bones, it is possible that this was an infant's grave and the bones had not survived. (2)
