Full Description
The location of a former quarry north of Little Buckland Farm and Buckland Lane is indicated by the field name "Hanging Close and Quarry" in an early nineteenth century estate atlas. The present use given in a report dated 1805, referring to a map of Little Buckland Farm dated 1804, shows that wheat was then being grown in the field of over 6 acres, so that any quarry would therefore have pre-dated 1804.(1)
