Full Description
Former wharf on the west bank of the River Medway at Buckland, Maidstone, shown in an early nineteenth century estate atlas, possibly built to serve a nearby stone quarry. A roadway is shown on a map dated 1804 leading from this wharf on the line of the present Buckland Hill, with the annotation "Benstead's Road from Quarry". At the north end of this road are parcels of land shown as stone quarries let to Messrs. Benstead, see TQ 75 NW 163. (1)
