Full Description
Former stone quarry to the south of the present Queens Road, Maidstone, let to Benstead from 1814 onwards as shown in an early nineteenth century estate atlas. The land parcel, number 14, of nearly 8 acres, is named "Near Lewis Field" in the estate report dated 1805, but the associated map has the later annotation "Stone Quarry to Messrs. Benstead". (1) The 1866 Ordnance Survey map shows the adjacent, later, "Iguanadon Quarry".
