Description from record TR 05 SE 119 :
Listed grade 2: C17 and 19, inscription over centre arch 1698. Rubble with brick parapet and approaching walls, with C19 red brick extension and causeway to E. Originally 3 chamfered arches, with 2 battered piers on N. side. Extension after 1810 formed 1 arch over river and 6 smaller arches for causeway.

Godmersham Bridge was built in the 17th century and altered in the 19th century. An inscription over the centre arch is dated 1698. The bridge is constructed of rubble with a brick parapet and approaching walls. After 1810, a red brick extension and causeway was added to the east. Originally the bridge comprised of three chamfered arches, with two battered piers on the north side. However following the extension an extra arch and six smaller arches of the causeway were created. An inscription on the bridge reads as follows: 'Built by the Parish and NOT by the Country. Thomas Caster and Richard Austen SURWEIGHERS (1)
