Full Description

A small scale excavation was carried out in the garden behind the bank in advance of building operations by kind permission of the manager, Mr N.G.Willis. Structural remains were fragmentary but suggested that a wattle and daub, first century hut had been replaced by a timber-framed building in the second century. Pottery and two brooches were found (sited to TQ 7431 6866 from OS 1:2500, 1970). (1)
