The Pest House in the garden of Scadbury Manor to south-west of the house TQ 67 SW 5/43 1.6.67

2. C16. At the south-west corner of the west rectangle of the garden walls to Scadbury Manor is a small building which was a Pest House for travellers along Watling Street making the pilgrimage to Canterbury. This is older than the house and is a timber-framed building now faced with red brick and flints. Two storeys. Hipped tiled roof. Sprocket eaves cornice. The interior has a blocked in mullioned window. Documents of the 1570s showed travellers who died in the Pest House. In the C19 a drying floor was inserted and 2 stock brick circular hop kilns added which at a later stage had crenellated parapets added.
