Monument record TQ 77 NW 41 - Unidentified mound, near Boatrick House, Cliffe
Summary
The earthwork remains of a small oval mound, probably an example of a 19th century or earlier stock refuge mound constructed on low-lying pasture within the marshlands of the Hoo Peninsula and the margins of the Thames Estuary. These were mapped from RAF 1951 aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. Since being photographed in 1951 this mound may have been partially or completely destroyed through clay quarrying for the local cement industry.
