Description from record TR 25 NE 9:
[TR 28205905] Chequer Court [NR] (1) Chequer Court. Grade II. On the Salvage List called Chequers Court. The moat round this house survives. Timber-framed bldg refaced in in the late 17th century with red brick, the east front now painted. Stringcourse. Tiled roof with shaped Dutch gable end to the north, hipped at the south end and with pentice to the west. Casement windows of 4 sections with wooden mullions and transoms and small square leaded panes, except the ground floor of the east front which has sash windows with glazing bars intact. 2 storey and attic. The east front has 3 windows and a later castellated porch. The south front has 3 windows and 2 brick chimney breasts. Modern addition to the west. (2) Chequer Court, as above, is probably originally 16th century. The moat is in excellent condition and a string of lakes to the south are clearly old fish ponds. See GP/AO/64/137/1. House in moated site. C16, refaced C17 and extended C19 and late C20. Timber framed and clad with red brick with plain tiled roof. Two storeys and attic on plinth with plat band and roof hipped to left with pedimented Dutch gable to right. Two large projecting and offset stacks to left, that to rear with integral oven housing. Stack at end right. Three gabled dormers. Three cross windows on first floor and 2 glazing bar sashes on ground floor. Central door of 2 moulded panels in crenellated porch with moulded brick semi-circular arched doorway, C19 and C20 wings to rear. Interior: renewed roof structure. Ovolo moulded ribbed door, carved wooden overmantel. Ancient seat of Septvans family .
