II
House of early C19 date. Two storeys stuccoed. Hipped tiled roof. Two casement windows with elliptical heads. Two doors with pointed arched heads. Interior modernised.

2019: the owner reported that "Rose Cottage dates from 1794 and was one of four cottages within the Darnley estate designed by Sir James Wyatt who was the architect for the Darnley Mausoleum. A carpenter, who worked for the Darnley family, lived and worked at Rose Cottage. There is a saw pit in the garden, and the woodshed, although the original roof blew off in the 1980’s hurricane and the structure damaged, was reconstructed in the traditional style of the period. The property and grounds were a hive of rural industrial activities during its early life. Some of the garden is full of clinker from the spoils from The Old Forge which is next door."
