The following text is from the original listed building designation:
SOUTH STREET TQ 75 SW BARMING (East Side) 2/13 No. 21 (The Cottage) GV II House. Mid C19 facade to a probably C17 or early C18 building. Painted brick. Left gable end rendered. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys and attic on painted stone plinth. Bracketed eaves cornice. Half-hipped roof. Central brick stack. 2 hipped dormers. Regular 3-window front of 4-pane sashes with horns, in open boxes. Central panelled doorway with semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars. Consoled hood over door, with broken-based triangular pediment. Rear lean-to. Low single-storey L-plan addition to left with 2 half-glazed doors. Interior not inspected.
