(TR 3634 6460) Chilton Farm [NAT] (1)

Chilton Farmhouse, Chilton Lane, Pegwell. Grade II*. Late C17th - early C18th. 2 storeys and attic. 5 windows, 1 dormer. Red brick. Stringcourse. Eaves cornice. Tiled roof. Shaped Dutch gable at the ends. Casement windows on the first floor. Sash windows with cambered head linings below (glazing bars intact). Modern doorway. (2)

Chilton Farm, Chilton Lane, an early C18th farmhouse with shaped end- gables. (3)

Chilton farmhouse. House. c1713 on C16 foundations (see list for details). (4)

A tunnel of unknown purpose and uncertain date leading off from the cellar (TR 36 SE 339). (5)

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
RAMSGATE CHILTON LANE TR 36 SE (west side) 3/94 Chilton Farmhouse II* House. 1713 on C16 foundations. Red brick and coursed flint (especially to right return) with plain tiled roof. Two storeys, basement and attic on flint plinth with plat band and moulded wooden eaves cornice to roof with Dutch gables, stacks to end left and to end right, and central hipped dormer. Regular fenestration of 5 cross windows on first floor, and 4 glazing bar sashes on ground floor with segmental heads. Four segmentally headed basement lights. Central half-glazed door with projecting flat roofed porch. Two storey hipped extension to right. Right return lower wall of coursed C16 flintwork (archaeological evidence indicates continued use as settlement site pre-medieval).
