The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TQ 67 41 BRENCHLEY HIGH STREET, BRENCHLEY (south side) 15/108 Edward Down headstone about 13m south of the south transept of the Church of All Saints GV II
Headstone. Late C17. Freestone. Shouldered headstone with a rounded head and plain border. Inscription in capital letters, the words overrunning the lines, commemorates Edward Down, died 1670.
