Full Description

[Marginal] Note by Ben. Harrison: "7.9.1879. To Fairlawn. Inspected some very large boulders embedded in the park: not unlikely a stone circle". (1) [TQ 5981 5270] "67 blocks of sandstone (Oldbury soft stone) lie near Round Shaw; some of these appear to have been arranged in one or two circles and ellipses..." (2) Add. ref. to Authy 1. (3) These boulders, which lie in a pasture field, are earthfast with a small portion only showing above the surface of the ground. They are not arranged in any formation and are unquestionably erratics. (TQ 59795272) (4)
