Monument record TR 03 NW 5 - Moat, Old Mumford Farm, Kings Norh, Ashford

Summary

There are the remains of a moat at the foot of the garden of Mumford Cottages, Kingsnorth. Three small ponds lie to the south west and north east of the house and these are identified as the moat remains. It is suggested that the site was formerly a manor. The houses today are relatively small and date to the early 18th century, although they seem to incorporate a few stone foundations and lower courses of an earlier house and Tudor interior timbers.
