Full Description
A small archaeological excavation by Neil Aldridge found a section of heavily metalled iron slag road was found at Bishopsden Farm, Benenden. The road was 2.3 m wide with the slag to a depth of 0.26 m. Wheel ruts were found in the slag road surface and there were indications of a ditch on the north side. (1) The road ran from a junction near Benenden School and Ashford.
