Full Description
Iron Age Earthwork, with ditch and pits at Amber Green Cottage, Boughton Monchelsea. Three pits which were only excavated to a depth of 0.2m to reveal the nature of the deposits below the topsoil.
Remnant of southern ditch associated with earthwork. Considerable remains of single bank earthwork along the northern edge towards Marlpit Farm. Steep sided V-cut ditch on East-West alignment to the bank which is probably part of the same ditch system.(1)
Watching brief, in September 2003. Brief concluded that the roadside ditch probably forms part of the Late Iron Age earthwork system on the evidence of earlier projects, but the watching brief itself produced 'nothing of archaeological interest'. (2)
