Summary

Medieval wall foundations. Fragments of roof tile and pottery sherds date to AD 1225-1325 were incorporated into the build of the wall. Two linear features and an irregular pit-like feature. Late Iron Age (C1st BC), Roman and Medieval pottery sherds (AD 1350-1550) Tile and animal bones also from the Medieval period.

Full Description

Medieval wall foundations of ragstone, chalk and flint. Fragments of roof tile and pottery sherds date to AD 1225-1325 were incorporated into the build of the wall.

Single Late Iron Age 'Belgic' (C1st BC) pottery sherd. Several Roman (AD 43-410) and Medieval pottery sherds (AD 1350-1550) Tile and animal bones also from the Medieval period. Most of the pottery sherds were of post-Medieval date (c.AD 1625-1675).

Oyster shell. Post-medieval pottery sherds (AD 1825-AD 1925).

One linear feature contained pottery sherds dating to AD 1450-1550.

One linear feature and an irregular pit-like feature contained post-Medieval pottery. All three cut features were overlain by deposits attributed to modern made ground and levelling with pottery dating between AD 1850 and 1925. (1)
