Monument record TQ 65 NE 123 - Medieval ditch and other small finds discovered in 2005

Summary

In 2005 excavation in advance of the new Leybourne Bypass discovered a single ditch was found, dated by pottery finds and peg tiles to the late 12th or 13th century. It was 50m long, 1-1.2m wide and 0.24-0.27m deep. The ditch was found accompanied by small finds including worked flint (probably early Neolithic), Romano-British tile and a late Bronze Age copper alloy spearhead.
