Monument record TQ 75 NW 350 - Roman cremation, finds and probable ditches and prehistoric ditch at renal unit, Maidstone Hospital

Summary

In 2006 an archaeological evaluation was carried out in advance of a new renal unit at Maidstone Hospital. Five trenches and five geoarchaeological test pits were excavated. A 2nd to 3rd century Roman cremation was found accompanied by a pottery vessel and an enameled copper alloy brooch. Two dtiches, probably Roman, were found together with a ditch containing prehistoric pottery.
