Full Description
The site of a large zigzagging World War Two anti-tank ditch in Capel-le-Ferne. It ran north-south inland from the cliff top with the largest part between Old Dover Road and New Dover Road. Where New Dover Road crossed the ditch there was a probable temporary roadblock to the east The ditch ran for c. 340m and was c. 10-15m wide. Part of an anti-tank stop line that crossed the village. The line was continued north-northwest by anti-tank pimples. Visible on aerial photographs of 1946 (Photo Ref: 106g 30th April 1946 3436 and 4435). No apparent trace visible on modern images but site not visited. Some local subsidence reported possibly as a result of the ditch fill settling (1).
