Full Description

An evaluation excavation in 2003 found a post-medieval ditch. It contained medieval and post-medieval material, most likely a product of manuring of the fields adjacent to the ditch (1).

On the First Edition of the 6 inch Ordnance Survey map (1862-1875) a boundary is depicted in the western part of the site on the same alignment as the two sections of the ditch exposed during the evaluation trenching. This boundary is not shown on the Second Edition (1897-1900). The medieval material derived from manuring probably found its way into the ditch as a result of the ploughing across the removed boundary in the late 19th century.
