Full Description
Rectilinear enclosure visible as cropmarks on 2007 Google Earth image, 88m x 32m. Located in a field north of Common Lane, north of Rye Street, Cliffe.
Cropmark traces of a possible incomplete Iron Age or Roman rectilinear enclosure mapped from aerial photographs as part of the part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The enclosure is located at TQ 7459 7662 to the east of Cliffe in a cultivated field between 3m and 5m above sea level. It appears as a rectilinear enclosure 38m x 70m, defined by a single ditch. The northern side cannot be seen. The southern ditch extends for a further 70m beyond the south-eastern corner. This site was seen on Google Earth imagery taken in April 2007. (1)
