Summary
The Tunbridge Wells and Hastings Branch Railway had been planned as early as 1845, but the section to Robertsbridge opened in September 1851, the next section to Battle on New Years Day 1852, and the final 6 miles to Bopeep Junction was completed in February 1852. Short lines to the gypsum mines at Mountbridge were also constructed.
