Evaluation at Harrietsham School in Sep 2002; excavation in Jun 2005.

Prehistoric / early Roman rural activity, consisting of pits, ditches, and a possible quarry pit. The Late Iron Age / Early Roman ditch running NE-SW contained a "reasonable amount of pottery which is indicative of nearby domestic activity". (1)

Further investigation refined the date of earliest activity to the Late Mesolithic / Early Neolithic. Excavation revealed many ovate, concave depressions with flint knapping depris. The Roman ditch was given a revised date of 45-70AD. Cart tracks were found that probably relate to known 19th century sand quarrying. (2)
