[TR 15045780] At the north end of Longmarket, fronting Burgate, Canterbury, two pre-Roman occupation deposits were found consisting of timber structures with gravel floors associated with Belgic and Gallo-Belgic pottery as well as Claudian-Neronian sherds. The site was evidently used for rubbish disposal in Roman times. (1-2) Excavated 1953 by J Boyle and sited to TR 15055780. All finds, including a number of speculum coins (Allen's Class II); a bronze stater (Allen's LY7), and a silver stater (Allen's LZ9), are in Canterbury Museum. (3)

An excavation in 1958 revealed evidence for pre-Roman/Roman features comprising "six pits, a stone-packed post-hole and a gravel layer (perhaps a floor, courtyard or track)" (from the original report, 4).
