Full Description
[Area TR 143583] A Roman cemetery, cremations only, covered about 20 acres in the north-west of Canterbury; the area including the modern London Road, the garden of Roper House on the north-east of St Dunstan's Street, Church Street, Orchard Street, the railway line and the recreation ground. It was probably in use in the late 1st and 2nd centuries, "but our records are altogether too meagre to define its duration more exactly". The pottery is now in Canterbury Museum.
