Full Description

(TR 14405784) 'London Gate' excavations in 1955 revealed a Ro gateway through which passed Watling St. Site marked by plaque. (1) [TR 14405785] ROMAN GATE [R] (Site of) [NAT]. (2) London Gate when excavated in 1955 was shown to have no flanking towers. It is the only Roman gate not reused in medieval times. (3)

Geophysical survey carried out in 2011 found anomalies that may derive from the Roman gatehouse (4)
