Full Description

Excavation at Brisley Farm (Area 8), undertaken by Archaeology South-East in 2004 prior to development. Prehistoric to medieval deposits found, similar to other areas of the Brisley Farm area.

The 13th century sees a series of ditches, foming a rectilinear enclosure, and a waterhole or pond probably dates to the same period. The late 13th to 14th century sees more ditched field enclosures and a possible building, represented by post-holes and stone for a sill-beam. Adjacent to this building is a yard surface of sandstone blocks, which contained domestic rubbish. (1)
