Full Description
TR 36394890. An irregular pit of Medieval date was discovered in the winter of 1980/81 when the Dover Archaeological Group undertook a watching brief along the line of a new water main being laid by the Southern Water Authority between Oxney Bottom (TR 35704706) and Walmer, Deal. The pit was sub-rectangular in shape and measured 2.25m (north-south) by 0.75m - 0.8m (east-west). It was 0.20m deep and was filled with brown clay loam. The fill produced 2 sherds of flint gritted Iron Age pottery in addition to 2 sherds of medieval sandy ware. The findsare in Dover Town Museum. (1)
