Full Description
A rubbish pit, with Roman pot sherds, bones and oyster shells, was found during flint digging in a field north of Tilmanstone Church in November 1916, on the property of Mr H.E.H Rice. Information from N.C Cook. Maidstone Museum give an approximate siting at TR 30305158 (a) and at TR 30305160 is a large depression, the result of quarrying, and without doubt the exact find spot. Mr Edward Rice of Dane Court, Tilmanstone, the owner of the land, can remember the flint diggers in this field and recalls the finds, but does not know what became of them. Nothing further has been discovered and the field has been under pasture for many years. (1) Additiona reference (2-5)
