Full Description
A series of postholes dated to the Saxon era were discovered during an excavation that took place over a wide area ahead of road works at junction 2 of the A2/A282. A number of archaeological features were uncovered dating from the Neolithic to modern (World War Two) eras.
In area P (excavation areas to the west of the M25) a series of postholes were uncovered and interpreted as being Saxon in date via the pottery recovered from said features. The postholes were grouped to form several buildings. Three definite structures were identified, the first measuring 10.5m by 5.4m and the second 6.9m by 3.8, there were also two other possible structures.(1)
