Rectilinear feature (1)

Two probably later prehistoric rectilinear settlement enclosures visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs: CUCAP BTG93 26-JUN-1975 and NMR 4137/93 18-JUL-1988 which have been mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. The western enclosure measures 38m x at least 45m - incomplete with the southern side not visible and there is a gap or entrance in the eastern side. The eastern enclosure is smaller and less rectilinear, also with two corners and one side not visible. This enclosure measures 29m x at least22m and has an internal small ditched enclosure attached to the southern side and a single pit. The site now lies beneath the site of The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital and is possibly destroyed. (1-3)
