Thanet Reach Business Park Development: Archaeological Implications. Desk based assessment [3].

The remains of two possible extractive pits visible as cropmarks near Updown Farm. Identified from aerial photographs: CUCAP BTG84 26-JUN-1975. These have been mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. These pits were mapped as part of an earlier survey RCHME Kent NMP project undertaken in the late 1980s. This survey was hand drawn and sketch-mapped using NMP conventions. N.B. It is likely that this particular feature has been misidentified as a mound where the loose stipple for a large macula cropmarks has been mistaken for the compact stipple used for positive features such as banks and mounds.
