In 1994 a watching brief was done on the pipeline for the Herne Bay Water Treatment. During the watching brief a pit and gully were notice, both contained pottery sherds. The pit contained pot dating to the Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age (950-550 BC). (1)

In 1995 a report assessing the archaeology of the Herne Bay Waste Water Treatment plan was compiled. The pit contained c.15-20 sherds of Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age pottery c.950-550 BC. It appears to be an isolated feature perhaps contemporary with and merely an oulier of a known nearby prehistoric settlement. (2)
