In 2006 Archaeology South-East conducted an evaluation of land to the rear of 75 Church Road, Oare. One trench encountered a deposit containing Roman pottery from at least two vessels of the second century and burnt human bone. This is probably a cremation burial disturbed by later ploughing. (1)

Two undated features were also identified during the evaluation, one of which was re-excavated during a watching brief carried out at the site in November 2006. The watching brief also identified a Roman deposit at the site and a number of Roman artefacts, including pottery dating between 50-160 AD, and small quantities of animal bone and shell. Two pieces of worked flint were also recovered from a context dating to 70-120 AD. (2)
