Full Description

Site identified during transcription of features recorded on air photographs. (1) Macula and possible pit feature immediately to the N. (2)

Ring ditch visible on the 1990 aerial photos and the 2007 Google Earth image. 19m in diameter. The 2007 image shows possible internal pit-like features. A trackway runs immediately adjacent to the south (TR 36 NW 459).

Two further possible ring ditches visible on the 1990 aerial photos. One 50m to the north, measuring 18m in diameter with an internal pit-like feature. The other 30m to the south of the first ring ditch, immediately south of the trackway, measuring 11m in diameter.(3)

The cropmarks of a single large ring ditch with a diameter of 18.5m, probably the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow is visible on the aerial photograph: NMR 1660/524 16-JUL-1979. This has been mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. The other two possible ring ditches described above could not be seen on the available aerial photographs. The cropmarks of the large circular pit to the NE of the ring ditch, described by (2) above, was visible and mapped. This is recorded separately. (4)
