Summary

During an archaeological evaluation and top soil strip carried out at a site off Tothill Street, Minster, Thanet a group of archaeological features and finds were revealed. The earliest evidence for activity on the site comes from the presence of pottery sherds provisionally identified as being Neolithic in date. A large refuse pit was also assigned to this phase. Full Description

In 2004 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out an evaluation and topsoil strip of a site off Tothill Street in Minster, Thanet. A large Neolithic pit was found on the site, this measured c4m in diameter. Sherds of Neolithic pottery were also found scattered across the southern part of the site. An undated pit, filled with a large number of mussel shells, may also be of Neolithic date. (information summarised from source) (1)
